On Wednesday, May 4th the Ohio Democratic Party’s Executive Committee approved the Ohio Delegate Selection Plan for the 2012 Democratic National Convention in Charlotte, NC.  Ohio Democrats will send 191 delegates to the convention. These delegates will be selected in a process reflecting Democratic National Committee rules.

113 delegates and 11 alternates will be selected at pre-primary caususes on January 5,2012.  Ohio Democrats wishing to be delegates to the 2012 Convention must attend these caucuses.

Affirmative Action goals have been established for the delegation using Census figures and exit polling data from pervious elections.  Those goals are as follows: 43 African American delegates and 3 alternates; 7 Hispanic delegates and 1 alternate; 4 Asian Pacific delegates; 1 Native American delegate; 10 LGBT delegates and 1 alternate; and 20 Young Democrats (ages 18-35) and 1 alternate.
